Trying my hand at becoming a beauty YouTuber!

You might remember that a few weeks ago, I posted an article in which I challenged myself to become a beauty YouTuber; after all, if Zoella says it’s not that difficult, it can’t be… can it?

So here it is!

Despite YouTubers everywhere saying how fun, carefre, and fabulous making videos about the things they’re passionate about is, I’m here to let you in on a little secret – it’s really not!

During my challenge to become a YouTuber I realised that actually, you can’t just wing it with any old camera and some natural lighting to get a professional looking video. In actual fact the fancy camera you hire and have no idea how to use will probably malfunction somewhere along the way (trust me, it happened. twice.)

I also realised that sitting in a room and talking to yourself (on purpose) is literally the most awkward thing I’ve done in a long time. It also takes a long time. It’s not easy to just ‘review’ things in a coherent manner; realistically, you’re just going to sit there and waffle on for 45 minutes before realising you have about five minutes of useable film and a lot of footage of dodgy facial expressions.

To be honest, being a YouTuber for the day was one of the most stressful and awkward things I’ve done in a long time. But actually, I really enjoyed it once I’d got the hang of it! Now I’m not saying that I’m in a hurry to pick up a video camera again, but I’d definitely give it a go at some point. Who knows, in a year’s time I could have 6 million subscribers, two books and a beauty range…

Don’t forget to comment down below and let me know how you think I did; personally, I think I should leave it to the professionals!
