Beloved Director Mike Nichols dead
Hollywood director Mike Nichols has died at the age of 83. Born Michael Igor Perschkowsky in Berlin, where his parents had settled after leaving Russia, he came to America at the age of 7 after his family had fled the Nazis in 1939.
Whoopi Goldberg who was discovered by Mike was visibly upset on The View when the news came out that he had died. Whoopi had to be consoled by the other host. Tributes poured in by many stars after the news of his death had hit airwaves, including many from actors that the director had previously worked with.

Mike Nichols who directed and won an academy award for The Graduate had done many successful films like who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf, Catch 22, Working Girl and Charlie Wilson’s War.
He is in the small group of people who have won an Oscar, Emmy, Grammy and Tony award for his work. His marriage to Diane Sawyer, in 1988, was also the centre of much media attention.
